Scannionstown

I began with a house I already knew.
My grandparents house, which led me to Ireland, to my Granny's childhood home.
Scallionstown - a townland which is a small, Gaelic division of land used to trace ancestry, which my Granny's home still sits within, Ireland Co. Mayo.
This house is an open book, telling stories of generations; some born here, some passed here and generations who came together, sharing beautiful cherished memories including some of my own.
Through this work, I've come to question what a house really is. Presence still lingers in photographs, in the arrangement of rooms and furniture.
This question continues to unfold. It is guided as much by intuition as by documentation, leading my curiosity towards other family homes.
Please enjoy my depiction of my Granny's childhood home. It deserves to be seen and appreciated in a world of creatives who crave more.
